Smart phones are making us stupid according to new research and evidence from social experiments. Simon Sinek and Jim Kwik share their views on how smart phones are impacting on our ability to function in the world.
I am sure you have seen instances where a group of friends or family are together in a social environment, but instead of talking with each other and hearing about the things going on in their lives and the things they want to do, they are there spending time and giving more attention to their mobile phones than the people they are with. Mobile smart phones are making us stupid.
Or is it more the point, that it’s not so much the phones that are making us stupid or STOOPID as I like to spell it – it’s ourselves. We are allowing ourselves to become stupid because it’s you that is choosing to spend more time than you should be on your mobile device, you can either choose to engage in it or disengage with it.
Many people believe that this is all part of the ‘Hidden Agenda’ of the Elite, the dumbing down of humanity. I have no idea whether that’s true or not, and too be honest I couldn’t care less if it is. Because the truth of the matter is, we all have a choice, we decide if we want to spend time on the phone instead of focusing our attention on friends, loved ones. colleagues and associates.
If you want to build a relationship with some plastic and cleverly designed components – and I am not talking about blow up dolls here – then that is your choice.
To me, we as human beings are becoming disconnected even though we apparently live in a connected word. But one is far more important and much compassionate, loving, giving, supportive and will there for you in times of need. Whereas the other won’t.
But sooner of later those around you will begin to disappear when they realise that you are clearly more interested in your smart phone device than in them.
We need to reverse the saying: Smart phones are making us stupid to We are making smart phones stupid.
You have a choice, so be smart and choose wisely for the future you want to create for yourself and future generations. We have to be the change we want to see in the world. We all make a difference.
